The DB Cargo / Network Rail RHTT slows at Silk Mils on the 24th October 2024 having been routed onto the relief line. No.66179 and No.66154 were operating 3S13 08:46 Westbury - St Blazey via Salisbury RHTT circuit. In the distance LSL West Highland Pullman HST set formed of No. 43049 'Neville Hill' and No. 43050 'Loch Morar' is pictured approaching to overtake while heading empty to Goorington Sidings, in preparation for a tour next day.

The new LSL shortened West Highland Pullman passed Taunton for the first time on the 24th October 2024. Formed of No. 43049 'Neville Hill' leading and No. 43050 'Loch Morar' on the rear the five car formation operated as 5Z42 07:55 Crewe HS - Goodrington Sidings in preparation for a charter the next day, the set is pictured passing Silk Mills.

The Midland Pullman was back in the Taunton area again on Saturday 14th September 2024, the immaculate HST set is pictured passing Silk Mills operating as the ‘Torbay Riviera Express’. Midland Pullman powercars No.43047 and No. 43046 'Geoff Drury 1930-1999' were in charge of the 1Z81 06:35 Leeds to Paignton.

Saphos Trains 'English Riviera Express' charter departs from Taunton using the relief line on Saturday 10th August 2024. Having arrived into Taunton as 1Z:47 05:47 High Wycombe - Kingswear with No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' leading the train and No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' in top and tail formation, the B1 No. 61306 'Mayflower' was then added for the steam leg to Paignton.

LNER A4 Pacific No. 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' made its final run on Saphos Trains 'English Riviera Express' charter on Saturday 21st July 2024. The locomotive is pictured passing Silk Mills getting underway from Taunton operating 1Z60 05:29 Bedford - Kingswear with No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' attached to the rear for train supply and shunting duties at Kingswear.

GWR Hitachi IET No.800319 rounds the curve from Silk Mills heading through Norton Fitzwarren on Saturday 20th July 2024 running 37 minutes late. The nine-car unit was operating 1C72 08:03 London Paddington - Penzance.

LNER B1 No. 61306 'Mayflower' departs from Taunton (with some polite assistance from No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' at the rear of the train) while operating Saphos Charters 'English Rivera Express'. No. 61306 'Mayflower' took over from No. 40013 'Andania' (D213) at Taunton for the steam leg to Kingswear. No. 61306 'Mayflower' passes Silk Mills operating 1Z27 05:10 Crewe - Kingswear.

The Branchline Society operated one of the most whacky railtours Taunton has ever witnessed on Saturday 4th May 2024. The 'May the Fourth be With You' charter operated as 1Z73 06:48 Eastleigh - Exeter Central operating via Portsmouth Harbour, Southampton, Salisbury to Westbury with No.33012 and GBRf Class 73 No. 73136 'Mhairi' in 'top and tail' formation either end of the London Transport livered 4TC set. At Westbury three Class 59 locomotives from Freightliner were added. The incredible combination of No. 59202 'Alan Meadows Taylor - MD Mendip Rail Limited', No. 59101 'Village of Whatley', No. 59104 'Village of Great Elm' No.33012 and No. 73136 'Mhairi' are pictured passing Silk Mills with a potential 11,450 horse power on the lading end of the train. Upon arrival at Exeter Central the three Class 59 locomotives returned light engine to Westbury while the Class 33 continue along to the Southern route to London Waterloo.

The colourful Midland Pullman HST set formed with No.43047 and No.43055 passes Silk Mills on Friday 12th April 2024. The Cornish Riviera Pullman was operating 1Z62 07:42 Berwick Upon Tweed - Penzance for a three day visit to Cornwall and Devon also visiting Kingswear on the second day of the outing.

Statesman Rail operated their Cornish Riviera Statesman charter on Saturday 5th August 2023. Two LSL Class 47 locomotives No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' and No. 47712 'Lady Diana Spencer' operated 1Z25 05:25 Derby - Penzance. The charter passed Taunton on time at 09:24 with the southbound leg of the popular dining charter.

No.47813 and No. 57313 'Scarborough Castle' operated 1Z47 06:30 Swansea - Truro in 'top and tail' formation. The pair are pictured padding Taunton four minutes behind schedule heading for Cornwall.

Having failed the previous night at Par with the northbound Night Riviera service. The train was rescued by a pair of back to pack powercars and towed to Plymouth where the loco hauled service was cancelled and passengers transferred onto a GWR IET. The stock from the previous night was moved to Reading Traincare Depot on Wednesday 8th March 2023. No.57305 leads dead No. 57605 'Totnes Castle' through Silk Mills after overnight snowfall, operating as 5R50 10:38 Plymouth - Reading Traincare Depot, the train passes No. 66415 'You Are Never Alone' which was shunting at Fairwater Yard at the time.

Still wearing its Hanson Aggregates livery, Class 59/1 No. 59103 'Village of Mells' made a rare foray west on the 12th August 2022. The Freightliner operated aggregate flow 6C27 08:28 Westbury - Exeter Riverside is often in the hands of a Class 66/6 locomotive. No. 59103 'Village of Mells' is pictured passing Silk Mills with 21 loaded wagons in tow.
