Operating instead off the normal Network Rail NMT HST set on the 5th April 2024. Colas Rail HST powercars No.43274 and No. 43257 'Bounds Green' arrive into Platform 2 at Taunton operating 1Z18 15:39 Paignton to Taunton via Bristol Temple Meads. The set was running 14 minutes early as it did not take its booked stop at Bristol East. The consist of the Network Rail test train was coaches 6263, 72631 975091 (Mentor overhead test coach), and 72612.

Looking rather tired and in need of some attention to its appearance, former LNER powercar Np.43157 is pictured in Platform 2 at Taunton with partner No.43274 (formerly LNER and EMR). The pair of Colas owned powercars were operating the Network Rail test diagram 1Q18 18:37 Taunton - London Paddington.

Colas Rail Freight split headcode Class 37/0 No.37057 powers through Taunton Station on the 28th March 2024 in a brief respite from the heavy rain caused by Storm Nelson. The locomotive was operating Network Rail test train 3Q99 10:00 Riverside to Derby RTC formed of coaches 6117, 6001, 9808, 62287, and DBSO 9714.

Colas Rail Freight split headcode Class 37 No.37057 passes Norton Fitzwarren on the 28th March 2024 operating a Network Rail test train during Storm Nelson. No.37057 was operating 3Q99 10:00 Exeter Riverside - Derby RTC.

The Network Rail New Measurement Train formed of No. 43013 'Mark Carne CBE' leading No. 43062 'John Armitt' is pictured passing Creech St Michael on Friday 8th March 2024. The set was operating the retimed 1Q18 09:06 Reading Triangle Sidings - Paignton testing diagram owing to engineering works in Cornwall prohibiting the normal route to be followed.

15th December 2023
Freightliner Class 66 No.66525 arrived back in Fairwater Yard on the 15th December 2023. The locomotive hauled 6Z73 12:20 Westbury - Fairwater Yard with a rake of Network Rail MFS wagons. The loco operated via Bristol Temple Meads in order to turn the set. A second set is due to arrive on Thursday 21st ahead of being used for a Christmas Engineering relay in the Slough area. Colas Rail HST powercars No.43272 and No.43274 operate the Network Rail NMT south through Cogload Junction on the 2nd June 2023. The test train was operating a revised diagram due to rail strikes the next day. The pair are pictured at Cogload running 16 minutes early as 1Z18 16:22 Exeter St Davids - Taunton via Bristol Temple Meads.

Scruffy, weather beaten former LNER powercar No.43290 leads the Network Rail test train with Colas partner No.43274 on Friday 5th May 2023. The pair were operating the final track testing diagram as 1Q19 18:57 Taunton - London Paddington which took the Berks and Hants route at Cogload Junction.

Powering across the Somerset Levels at dusk on the 1st April 2024 brings a rare visitor to the south west. No.66510 leads No.66591 eastbound at Oath while operating 6X04 18:31 Fairwater Yard - Tackley with the Network Rail Track Replacement Train. The set will carry out track renewal work overnight before returning to Fairwater Yard the following Monday Morning

The Network Rail Class 950 Track Assessment Unit No.950001 at Eastbrook on Tuesday 1st November 2022 having just passed over Whiteball Summit while working 2Q08 05:03 Bristol Temple Meads to Plymouth Park Sidings. The lengthy route had taken the unit to both Whatley and Merehead Quarries, three visits to Westbury and two to Bath Spa before re-joining the GWR mainline from Bristol to Plymouth via Bridgwater.
