English Electric Class 50 No. 50008 'Thunderer' is pictured paused at Taunton on the 26th September 2024. The Hanson and Hall Class 50 was operating light engine as 0V50 08:40 Worcester Shrub Hill - Bodmin in order to take part in the Bodmin and Wenford Diesel Gala Weekend, and to join Cornwall recluse classmate No. 50042 'Triumph' for the weekend of events on the preserved line.

HNRC Class 37 No.37607 (formerly operated by Direct Rail Services) passes light engine through Fordgate light engine on the 19th June 2024. The loco was operating 0Z37 11:00 Exeter St Davids - Derby completing route learning duties in the southwest.

Having completed a very successful visit to the West Somerset Railway Diesel Gala, the visiting locomotive convoy returned north on Sunday 9th June 2024. Michael Owen Class 20 No.20142 and No.20189 provide a lift to No.46045 and No. 50033 'Glorious' as 0Z20 16:50 Bishops Lydeard - Kidderminster passing Huntworth.

Friday 7th June 2024 provided the appearance of the first 'Tango' liveried HNRC Class 37 at Taunton. No.37607 passed Taunton at 15:25 operating 0Z37 10:04 Derby RTC - Exeter Riverside. The loco was carrying out route learning duties in Devon over the coming week.

Former Yeoman Class 59 No. 59003 'Yeoman Highlander' made a visit to Somerset, Devon and Cornwall overnight on Saturday 24th / Sunday 25th February 2024. The loco delivered a set of rail cranes to Cornwall in connection with re-signalling. Despite advertising itself at as GBRf movement, No. 59003 'Yeoman Highlander' is actually on hire to Colas Rail Freight to supplement its fleet of locomotives. No. 59003 'Yeoman Highlander' passes through Platform 4 at Taunton returning light engine as 0C21 08:10 Truro - Westbury.

Having spent the Autumn of 2023 operating RHTT trains in he north of England, DRS Class 37/4 No. 37425 'Sir Robert McAlpine/ Concrete Bob' made a foray to the southwest on the 9th January 2024. Having received a wash to remove the months of built up grime, the loco is looking very much respectable again wearing its Regional Railways livery. No. 37425 'Sir Robert McAlpine/ Concrete Bob' is pictured passing Taunton while operating 0Z39 08:50 Bristol Temple Meads - Bristol Temple Meads via Taunton diagram. Direct Rail Services operated a series of light engine moves to Taunton throughout the day for route learning and driver training purposes.

DB Cargo Class 66 No.66003 moved former DRS Class 37 No.37703 to the Paignton and Dartmouth Railway. The Class 37 is thought to have been purchased from HNRC and is being moved to the PDSR where it will join sister loco No.37275. On the 17th October 2023, No.66003 and No.37703 are pictured at Oath operating as 0Z09 08:26 Westbury - Paignton.

Four more Cross Country powercars No.43321 No.43303 No.43357 and No.43301 departed for pastures new on Monday 16th October 2023. The foursome operated as 0Z60 11:00 Exeter Riverside - Old Dalby, pictured here passing Taunton running around 40 minutes late. It's believed these will be entering service with Colas for Network Rail Test Train work.
