9th June 2025
Having successfully participated in the 2025 West Somerset Railway Diesel Festival three of four guest locos to the event, No. 50015 'Valiant', No.45108 and No. D1015 'Western Champion' return north on Monday 9th June 2025 by means of a tow from Rail Adventure powercars No.43465 and No.43484. The convoy heads north as 0Q84 12:42 Bishops Lydeard to Kidderminster captured here passing through Banklands. The Class 43 power cars had remained static throughout the four day gala, on public display in Williton yard.

3rd June 2025
Rail Adventure Class 43 power cars No.43484 and No.43465 pass Bathpool on Tuesday 3rd June 2025. Running through Cogload Junction 64 minutes ahead of schedule the WSR bound loco convoy ran as the 0Q83 10:08 Kidderminster SVR to Bishops Lydeard. The former British Rail locomotives tow were destined to appear in the forthcoming West Somerset Railway Diesel Gala over the following weekend. Gala attendees were Class 45 No.45108, Class 50 No. 50015 'Valiant' and Western No. D1015 'Western Champion'. Upon arrival at Bishops Lydeard the latter were detached and stabled, with the Rail Adventure power cars continuing on to Williton where they will be on display throughout the gala event.

Having completed a week of route learning in Cornwall and having stabled at Taunton overnight, GBRF Class 69 No. 69005 'Eastleigh' departed from Taunton on Saturday 31st May. The grubby locomotive is in need of a date with a detergent hose for a wash and scrub, pictured here departing Taunton as 0Z39 13:57 Taunton - Bristol East Depot light engine.

GBRf Class 69 No. 69005 'Eastleigh' is pictured stabled at Taunton on the 30th May 2025. The locomotive arrived as 0C69 11:00 Plymouth Park Sidings - Taunton Loco Sidings after completing a week of route learning in Cornwall.

GBRf operated a locomotive transfer with two locomotives captured passing Taunton the stunning afternoon sunlight on the 28th May 2025. No. 66713 'Forest City' and No. 66709 'Sorrento ' operated 0Z97 12:37 Eastleigh Yard - Exeter Riverside Yard in order to replace the current two Class 66 locomotives operating the Weed Control Train. The colourful combination were captured passing through Taunton Station as they headed south.

GBRf British Railways Green liveried Class 69 No. 69005 'Eastleigh' passes through Platform 2 at Taunton on the 26th May 2025. The locomotive was operating 0Z69 09:07 Eastleigh Yard - Plymouth Park Sidings light engine move, ahead of various route learning duties in connection with the forthcoming Britannic Explorer Pullman charter services starting.

Vintage Trains Class 37 No.37240 (wearing early privatization Transrail livery runs light engine over Whiteball running as the 0Z77 11:58 Bristol Temple Meads to Plymouth on Saturday 10th May 2025. The Class 37 was in the west country in a supporting role to ‘The South Devon Explorer’ railtour following No. D1015 'Western Champion', and assisting with ‘top and tail movements. The return leg of the tour from Plymouth to Birmingham would visit Buckfastleigh on the South Devon Railway requiring the assistance of 37240 to drag the train back to the main line at Totnes before continuing the journey north back to the Midlands.

Transrail liveried Class 37 No.37240 makes a very rare appearance in the South West on Satruday 10th May 2025. The loco was operating 0Z77 10:58 Bristol Temple Meads - Plymouth having detached from the rear of the 'The South Devon Explorer' charter at Bristol. The loco then followed D1015 to Plymouth where it re-joined the train to assist with top and tail movements on the South Devon Railway.

GBRF 'Biffa' liveried Class 66 No. 66783 'The Flying Dustman' operated light engine through Taunton on Sunday 20th April 2025. The Flying Dustman operated 0Z92 11:20 Westbury - Exeter Riverside light engine to collect a rake of stored KEA steel slab wagons from the yard. However hopes the train would return in daylight were soon dashed when the locomotive was re-scheduled to depart at 22:37 that night back to Pengam. The colourful liveried locomotive was captured at Victory Crossing heading south.

GBRF Class 69 loco No. 69003 'The Railway Observer' finally returned to Eastleigh on Monday 7th April 2025. Captured at Allerford near Victory Crossing operating as 0O55 17:33 Exeter Riverside to Eastleigh Yard. Having omitted the booked pathing stop in Tiverton Loop the original schedule running 24 minutes early was regained by 69003 'The Railway Observer' waiting time with an unscheduled stop on the relief line at Taunton.

GB Railfreight Class 69 No. 69003 'The Railway Observer' passes Victory Crossing on the 26th March 2025 operating a driver route learning run to Taunton in connection with the upcoming Belmond Britannic Explorer. The loco was operating 0Z47 11:19 Plymouth Park Sidings - Taunton. The loco later returned to Plymouth.

GBRF Class 69 No. 69003 'The Railway Observer' visited Taunton on the 25th March 2025. The loco was carrying out route learning duties in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. The loco arrived into Platform 3 as 0Z47 11:19 Plymouth Park Sidings - Taunton before returning south to Devon.

GBRF British Rail Green liveried Class 69 No. 69005 'Eastleigh' passes Creech St Michael on Sunday 23rd March 2025. The rather grubby looking locomotive was returning to Eastleigh as part of a loco swap, having been carrying out driver route learning in Devon and Cornwall, operating as 0Z69 10:55 Plymouth Park Sidings - Eastleigh.

GBRf Class 69 No. 69003 'The Railway Observer' passes Norton Fitzwarren on Sunday 23rd March 2025 operating a light engine move (originating from Eastleigh) but operating as 0Z70 14:40 Reading - Plymouth Park Sidings. The loco was swapping places with classmate No. 69005 'Eastleigh' which had returned to Eastleigh earlier that day.

A grubby 'celebrity' liveried Class 69 from GBRf operated a route learning trip to Cornwall on Friday 7th March 2025. No. 69005 'Eastleigh' passes Bathpool on the 7th March 2025 operating 0F79 08:00 Eastleigh East Yard - Truro Yard. The light engine route learning was in connection with the forthcoming Blemond Britannic Explorer rail experience train which is due to start operating later this year. No. 69005 'Eastleigh' was converted from No.56007 in 2021 and carries a British Rail Green (with late BR crest) livery. The Class are rarely seen in the Taunton area unless on special out of course workings, all GRBf freights in the area are handled by the fleet of GBRf Class 66 locomotives.

GBRf liveried Class 57/3 No.57306 heads south through Creech St Michael, catching the low winter sunlight on the 21st January 2025. The loco was operating 0Z07 06:31 Gloucester New Yard - Exeter St Davids, before forming an onward movement to Plymouth. The loco was heading for the GWR Depot at Long Rock who were booked to carry out contract bogie/ wheelset repairs for GBRf on their Class 57/3.

GBRf Class 57/3 No.57306 passes the Taunton Trains picture board on Platform 2 on the 21st January 2025. With driver Andy Floyd at the controls the loco was operating 0Z07 06:31 Gloucester New Yard - Exeter St Davids before continuing to Plymouth for onward transit to the GWR Depot at Long Rock for contract repairs.

Hanson and Hall Class 50 No. 50008 'Thunderer' returned from its weekend away at the Bodmin and Wenford Diesel Gala. No. 50008 'Thunderer' returned north on Monday 30th September 2024 running light engine 0C50 10:45 Bodmin - Bristol Barton Hill. 'Thunderer' is pictured passing Durston shortly after passing Cogload Junction.

English Electric Class 20 locomotives No.20189 and No.20142 pass Bradford on Tone on Friday 27th September 2024. Having hauled Vintage Trains charter 'The Mayflower' from Birmingham to Bristol the two locomotives handed over to two Castle Class steam locomotives before running light engine ahead of the charter for insurance purposes. The BR Blue and London Transport liveried pairing are pictured passing Cogload Junction operating as 0Z21 09:42 Bristol East Depot - Laira TMD.
