Locomotive Services Ltd Class 47s No.47614 (No.47853) and No. 47593 'Galloway Princess' (No.47790) pass Huntworth on Wednesday 2nd June 2021 operating The Statesman dining train 'The Cornish Riviera Statesman'. The dining charter was formed of Statesman coaches 3426 3384 3344 3348 1211 3312 3438 80043 3188 3229 and 17056 operating as 1Z46 15:00 Penzance - Wolverhampton.

LSL Class 47s No. 47593 'Galloway Princess' and No.47614 were back in the southwest on Saturday 3rd July 2021 operating the 'Cornish Riviera Statesman' charter. The 1Z45 04:50 Derby - Penzance is pictured passing Staplegrove Road shortly after Taunton Station.

LSL (Locomotive Services Limited) operated the 'The Dartmouth Regatta Statesman', Friday 28th August 2020. Having lost time in the Bristol area Class 47 locomotives No. 47501 'Craftsman' (D1944) & No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' (D1935) are pictured at speed at Norton Fitzwarren with the 1Z10 06:33 Rugby to Kingswear charter.

Thirty-six years separate the build dates of the locomotives pictured in this image taken at Taunton on Friday 30th August 2020. Locomotive Services Ltd Class 47s No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' and No. 47501 'Craftsman' wait at Taunton while operating 1Z11 17:15 Kingswear - Rugby. In the Adjacent platform Colas Rail Class 67s No. 67027 'Charlotte' and No. 67023 'Stella' wait to depart with Network Rail test train 1Q19 18:57 Taunton - London Paddington. In the background, the full height of the new station car park can now be seen above the station room level.

The English Riviera Statesman returns north through Norton Fitzwarren on the 18th of July 2002. No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' leads 1Z38 16:28 Paignton - Peterborough charter in the evening sunlight on the approach to Taunton.

The first charter to visit the southwest post-COVID-19 lockdown was 'The English Riviera Stateman' on Saturday 18th July 2020. The train was hauled by Locomotive Services Limited (LSL) Class 47/8 No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' (No.D1935). The Pullman dining service heads west at Nynehead with the 1Z37 05:37 Peterborough to Paignton heading for Devon.

Locomotive Services Limited Class 47/8 No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' powers through West Lyng on Saturday 18th July 2020 operating Statesman Rail charter 1Z37 05:37 Peterborough - Paignton. It had also been two years since No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' had last visited the Taunton area.

Passengers on board the high class 'Statesman' charter tuck into their cook breakfasts as heritage Sulzer power hauls them towards the Devon Riviera.

30th June 2018
West Coast Railways Class 47 No.47832 trails the 'Exmoor Coast Statesman' (with No.47826 out of sight) through Crowcombe on the 30th June 2018. The premier dining charter is pictured passing the heritage diesel service (15:15 Bishops Lydeard - Minehead) waiting with Class 33 D6566 (No.33048). Unfortunately due to a points failure at Blue Anchor earlier in the day all services were running late. As the 1Z79 15:08 Minehead - Crewe needed to get back to the mainline it took priority over the WSRs own service trains. As a result of the 15:15 heritage diesel service to Minehead was canceled at Crowcombe and returned to Bishops Lydeard after The Statesman Charter had passed.

West Coast Railways operated the 'Dartmouth Royal Regatta Statesman' from Wolverhampton to Kingswear on Saturday 26th August 2017. The high quality dining charter was hauled by Class 57/6 No.57601 with Class 57/3 No. 57313 'Scarborough Castle' on the rear of the set. The colourful set is seen passing Cogload Junction with the 1Z60 to Kingswear.

Second charter on the day to visit Taunton on the 13th May 2017 was operated by West Coast Railways. 'The English Riviera Statesman' was hauled by top and tail Class 57/3s. Complete with a scratch from one end of the loco to the other No.57313 leads the 1Z84 05:25 Crewe - Paignton charter through Taunton formed of coaching stock 9497 3188 3438 99679 3312 3360 1211 3395 3313 5991 5912.

5th September 2015
Taunton was blessed with two visiting charter trains within several minutes of one another on Saturday 5th September 2015. In a race to Cogload Junction, West Coast Railways won with 'The Statesman'. Former First Great Western and South West regular Class 57/6 No.57601 lead the 1Z07 05:05 Crewe - Minehead dining charter with classmate Class 57/3 No.57316 on the rear of the set. After a short pause at Taunton 57601 then lead the train onto the West Somerset Railway to visit the seaside resort of Minehead.

Two West Coast Railways Class 57s visited the Dartmouth Regatta on Saturday 29th August 2015 from Chester. The pair No. 57601 'Windsor Castle' and No,57316 operated in 'top and tail' formation from Chester to Kingswear with 'The Statesman' charter. After spending the afternoon in Kingswear enjoying the regatta and air show passengers returned to Chester on the high-class dining train. No.57316 is seen passing Tauntons local Network Rail herb garden at the south end of Platform 5 operating 1Z08 17:05 Kingswear - Chester.

West Coast Railways continued their gradual return to normal operations on the 18th July 2015 after their latest operational infringements, when two of their Class 57/3s locomotives teamed up to work The Statesman Charter from Ely through to Paignton. Class 57/3 No.57313 is seen slowly approaching Creech St Michael with the 1Z44 05:31 from Ely, to Paignton with classmate No.57316 on the rear of the set.

Class 67s were the order of the day in Taunton on the 17th of April 2015. DB Schenker provided Royal Class 67 No.67006 to haul 'The Cornish Riviera Statesman' charter from Leeds to Penzance. DB Schenker was standing in for West Coast Railways who recently had their entire operation halted by Network Rail after a serious SPAD incident. The Class 67 operated by DB Schenker is pictured passing 40 Steps, Taunton operating 1Z75 06:24 Leeds - Penzance.
