Colas Rail Freight Class 67 No. 67023 'Stella' and No. 67027 'Charlotte' stand in Platform 3 at Taunton having arrived with the 1Z18 15:41 Paignton - Taunton via Bristol East Yard on Friday 26th October 2019. On route the train discovered a 3m length of twisted (out of tolerance) rail between Taunton and Bristol which resulted in the closure of the mainline for several hours while the track was inspected and repaired, this rare event shows how vital the Network Rail test trains are to the UK rail network, for the safe operation of train services.

Another unique visitor to Taunton on the 14th August 2019 was part Large Loco liveried Class 37/6 No.37610. The locomotive arrived at Taunton just after 5am from an overnight track testing run originating from Tyseley. Having stabled at Taunton for the day on the 14th August, the unique locomotive and Network Rail test coaches are pictured passing through Platform 2 setting off with the 3Q53 17:09 Taunton to Exeter Riverside via Portbury.

Colas Rail Freight Class 67s No. 67023 'Stella' and No. 67027 'Charlotte' in 'top and tail' stood in for the Network Rail New Measurement Train on Friday 29th Jun while it was out of service. The Colas Class 67s were formed up with test coaches 975091, 72631, 977997 and 9481. No. 67023 'Stella' leads the 1Z18 15:46 Paignton - Taunton (via Bristol Temple Meads) test diagram over Cogload Junction running 12 minutes ahead of schedule. Upon arrival at Taunton, the pair terminated to form the last leg of its test diagram back to London Paddington.
