Still carrying full EWS livery and branding Class 66 No.66006 is pictured on Boxing Day, 26th December 2021. The locomotive was pictured at Beam Bridge, operated 6W03 08:30 Hemerdon – Westbury with the first of nine engineers trains to return to Westbury following overnight Christmas engineering work in Plymouth.

2nd December 2021
DB Cargo operated RHHT duties pass through Creech St Michael on the 2nd December 2021. EWS-liveried No.66087 leads DB Cargo-liveried No.66044 while operating 3J13 08:50 Westbury - St Blazey (via Salisbury) with the locos looking remarkably clean for the time they have spent attached to the RHTT set.

The Network Rail/ DB Cargo operated Rail Head Treatment Train (RHTT) passes Taunton six days a week to keep the rail heads clean from leaf mulch build up. On Friday 19th November 2021 EWS-liveried Class 66 No.66119 leads DB Cargo-liveried No.66009 through Bathpool spraying while operating 3J13 08:50 Westbury - St Blazey via Salisbury.

18th November 2021
Passing through the autumn scene at Whiteball with many of the leaves still on the trees the RHTT could see an extended 2021 operating season if leaf fall isn't complete by early December. After a change of traction on the north end of the set No.66116 leads DB Cargo red No.66009 south at Whiteball on Thursday 18th November 2021. The pair were operating 3J13 08:50 Westbury - St Blazey via Salisbury RHTT.

Highlighting the ongoing issue of station vegetation growth and clear lines of slight for drivers at the west end of Taunton Station. Where passenger foot fall is no longer allowed, nature reclaims the end of the station platforms with large routed plants now firmly established on the tarmac surface. Saturday 13th November 2021. Colas Rail Freight Class 66/8 No.70808 (in top and tail formation with No.66846) pass Platform 2 operating 6C98 04:15 Liskeard - Westbury CWR. Waiting in Platform 3 No.66098 and No.66116 are pictured paused while operating 3J13 09:09 Westbury - St Blazey via Salisbury RHTT set.

DB Cargo Class 66 No.66116 leads No.66098 in 'top and tail' formation passing Creech St Michael on the 12th November 2021. The pair were operating 3J13 08:50 Westbury - St Blazey via Salisbury 'Rail Head Treatment Train' returning to Cornwall.

On a blustery afternoon DB Cargo Class 66 No.66192 passes Norton Fitzwarren on the 31st October 2021 operating 6C24 13:37 Exeter St Davids - Westbury engineers returning from the Exmouth branch.

DB Cargo Class 66/0 No.66192 accelerates away from Cogload Junction on Saturday 30th October 2021, captured passing Cat Hill Farm crossing hauling 6C23 08:39 Westbury to Exeter St Davids. The loaded ballast was heading for the Exmouth branch, one of a number of engineers workings that also involved Colas & GBRf participation.

The annual leaf fall season re-introduces the Network Rail RHTT to the daily schedule of trains at Taunton. The 2021 pairing of No.66116 and No.66098 'top and tail' 3J13 09:09 Westbury - St Blazey via Salisbury through Cogload Junction on Saturday 9th October 2021.

EWS-liveried Class 66 No.66007 passes Cats Hill Farm crossing on the 3rd October 2021 operating 6W03 11:00 Athelney - Westbury via Faiwater Yard. The locomotive (carrying a Movember 'tash') is seen heading towards Taunton before changing ends and returning to Westbury via Bristol.

Following reversal at Fairwater Yard, DB Cargo Class 66 No.66070 passes West Lyng with a mixed rake of 2-axle Low Sided Open Box Wagons on Sunday 15th August 2021 running as 6W02 09:00 Bristol Temple Meads to Westbury via Fairwater Yard.

11th July 2021
EWS liveried No.66003 hauls Network Rail weed killer MPV DR98957/DR98907 passing Longforth Bridge Wellington on Sunday 11th July 2021. The train was operating as 3Z15 09:05 Didcot Yard to Exeter Riverside New Yard. The loco dropped the weedkiller unit at Exeter Riverside before returning to Didcot light engine. In the opposite direction Cross Country No.220019 and No.220002 work eastbound with 1S47 10:23 Plymouth to Glasgow Central.

Class 59s have become rare visitors to Taunton since Freightliner took over the Mendip aggregate traffic, their own Class 66/6's are often sent to Exeter Riverside. On the 6th July 2021 former DB Cargo Class 59/2 No.59201 dropped onto the Exeter Riverside aggregate flow. Still wearing its DB Cargo 'Cherry Red' base colours No.59201 is pictured at Oath returning to the Mendips having unloaded in Exeter, operating as 7C28 15:42 Exeter Riverside - Whatley Quarry.

Royal Class 67 No.67006 operates in 'top and tail' formation with No.67005 passing Bradford on Tone on the 11th June 2021 operating 1Z95 12:10 Windsor Eaton & Riverside - St Austell with The Queen, Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall on board, heading to carry out engaugements with G7 leaders at an evening event held at the Eden Project.
