Evoking memories of the mid 2000's wen English, Welsh, and Scottish Railways liveried Class 37 locomotives were operating. No.37250 (visiting from The Wensleydale Railway) arrives into Crowcombe Heathfield on Thursday 4th June 2026, operating 16:21 Minehead - Bishops Lydeard during Day1 of the Summer Diesel Festival.

DB Cargo Class 66 No.66168 leads the final DB-operated southbound empty China Clay service on Saturday 28th March 2026, 6V76 10:35 Westbury - Goonbarrow Junction. It's expected that GBRf will take over the service in due course. This concludes the last DB Cargo freight service south of Westbury and Bristol through Taunton.

14th March 2026
DB Cargo returned to operating the once-a-week China Clay empties, returning to Cornwall on the 14th March 2026. No.66192 leads 6V76 10:35 Westbury - Goonbarrow Junction with No.66098 at the rear of the train operating in top and tail formation. The train is seen at Pugham Farm having just passed into Devon from Whiteball. A shot normally outside the Taunton Trains photographic area, but included due to its notoriety.

14th February 2026
After 37 consecutive days of rain recorded by the Met Office, Taunton was treated to one day of glorious sunshine with a little warmth, giving respite from the constant downpours of recent weeks. Saturday 14th February provided one of the few remaining EWS liveried Class 66 locomotives No.66116 dropped onto the Saturdays Only China Clay empties. No.66116 is pictured passing Creech St Michael operating 6V76 10:35 Westbury - Goonbarrow Junction with 17 JIA wagons in tow. In the background GWR IET No.802102 heads east as 1A20 11:25 Taunton - London Paddington via Bristol.

On a very damp and wet 21st January 2026 DB Cargo Class 66/0 No.66098 brightens up the scene at Taunton Station. The loco was operating light engine as 0T53 06:45 Goonbarrow Junction - Westbury, captured passing through Taunton Station.

After a week of unsettled winter weather, Saturday, 17th January 2026, saw a period of bright mild winter sunlight. Operating the only booked daylight freight of the week DB Cargo Class 66 No.66098 passes the western end of Fairwater Yard at Silk Mills. The loco was hauling a rake of 16 empty China Clay wagons for loading in Cornwall as 6B76 10:35 Westbury - Goondbarrow Junction.

KIng Charles III visited the Dartmouth Royal Naval College by way of the Royal Train via Totnes on Friday, 19th December 2025. Captured approaching Cogload Junction, the dedicated Royal locos No.67006 and No.67005 head for home running as the 1Z53 15:15 Totnes - Kemble. From Cogload, the train ran via Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway to Swindon. At the latter, a change of direction onto the Kemble line would soon see the King delivered safely back to Highgrove in Gloucestershire.

The Royal Train catches the sunset as it curves away from Creech St Michael, passing Cat Hill Farm crossing on Friday,y 19th December 2025. No.67006 and No.67005 were returning King Charles III from a Royal visit to the Britannia Naval College in Dartmouth. The Royal Train was used to transport the King in both directions, returning north as 1Z53 15:15 Totnes - Kemble, where the King alighted to stay the night at Highgrove. Highgrove House is the private country retreat of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The King rents Highgrove from the Duchy of Cornwall estate, which Prince William now owns.

In glorious winter sunlight, DB Cargo Maritime-liveried Class 66/02 No. 66051 'Maritime Intermodal Four' passes Allerford on the 13th December 2025. The loco was hauling Saturday's only 6V76 10:35 Westbury - Goonbarrow with China Clay empties for loading in Cornwall. On this occasion, the train had been routed via Bristol due to engineering work between Taunton and Castle Cary. The local farmer has made another excellent job of his winter hedge trimming and has now planted his crops ready for the 2026 harvest.

DB Cargo operated their weekly Saturday-only service of empty China Clay wagons on Saturday, 13th December 2025. No. 66051 'Maritime Intermodal Four' operated 6V76 10:35 Westbury - Goonbarrow Junction. The train operated via Bristol due to engineering work between Castle Cary and Taunton, and is pictured passing Silk Mills in the low winter sunlight.
