Direct Rail Services (DRS) heavyweight Class 37 No.37716 operated light engine to Taunton on Friday 27th August 2021. The Class 37 was sent to collect a YXA wagon from Fairwater Yard. The loco is pictured passing Creech St Michael operating as 0Y78 10:19 Cardiff Canton - Fairwater Yard.

Direct Rail Services Class 37/7 No.37716 powers through the village of Creech St Michael on Friday 27th August 2021. The loco had been sent to Fairwater Yard to collect YXA DR92656 and return it for maintenance. The loco is pictured operating 6Y68 13:07 Fairwater Yard - Cardiff Canton. In the background Network Rail tree surgeons can be seen cutting back large amounts of undergrowth from the cutting.

DRS Class 57/0 No.57002 departed the Taunton area on Monday 12th April 2021 operating 6Z86 08:55 Fairwater Yard - West Ealing Plasser Works with a rake of HOBC wagons for refurbishment. The train is seen passing Broomhay Crossing shortly after departing Taunton.

Having arrived the previous day with wagons for Network Rail into Fairwater Yard, Direct Rail Services took the opportunity for a route leaning trip to Exeter. No.57002 is pictured at Marlands on the 10th April 2021. Having exited from Whiteball Tunnel while operating 0V83 10:00 Taunton - Taunton via Exeter. The following day the loco then departed to Swansea.

Direct Rail Services Class 57/0 No.57002 'Rail Express' runs light engine from Fairwater Yard to the sidings behind Platform 1 at Taunton on Friday 9th April 2021. The loco had recently arrived with 6Z87 10:57 West Ealing Plasser Works - Fairwater Yard, delivering a rake of refurbished HOBC wagons to Network Rail.

Direct Rail Services (DRS) Class 57/0 No.57002 makes a rare appearance at Taunton on the 9th April 2021 operating 6Z82 10:57 West Ealing Plasser Works - Fairwater Yard. The train conveys a rake of Network Rail wagons for delivery to the HOBC set based at Taunton. Having delivered the set to Faiwater Yard the loco return to stable behind in the sidings located beyond Platform 1 for the night, before then carrying out a light engine route learner to Exeter the next morning.

Direct Rail Services Class 57/0 No.57002 makes its first-ever visit to the Taunton area on Friday 9th April 2021. The loco was only the fourth sub-class member to visit Taunton. 6Z82 10:57 West Ealing Plasser Works - Faiwater Yard is pictured passing Oath on the Somerset Levels.

Direct Rail Services delivered a rake of refurbished wagons for the Network Rail HOBC to Taunton on Friday 9th April 2021. With an equally clean Class 57/0 No.57002 leading 6Z82 10:57 West Ealing Plasser Works - Fairwater Yard, the tran passes under 40 Steps as it enters Fairwater Yard.

Taunton had a rare early morning visit from Direct Rail Services on Monday 1st March 2020. A points failure in the Bridgwater Area meant 6V74 01:58 Crewe CLS - Bridgwater flask was unable to cross over and access the unloading facility. DRS Class 68 locomotives No. 68003 'Astute' and No. 68018 'Vigilant' were sent forward to Fairwater Yard in order to change direction. The pair arrived with their flask wagon at 07:35. The train was then held at Fairwater Yard until the points failure was resolved at Bridgwater. No. 68003 'Astute' and No. 68018 'Vigilant' then departed Taunton at 10:30 for their original destination of Bridgwater. The pair are pictured passing Broomhay Crossing in top and tail formation after their foray to Taunton. This rare operation has only occurred a handful of times in the history of the Bridgwater Flask operation and can be considered as rather rare.

Direct Rail Services operated a trio of locomotives into Devon on the 14th December 2020. No.66432 and No.66422 were paired up to operate 5Z74 05:05 Crewe CLS - Devonport Dockyard. On the rear of the train was also No.66421, the locomotives sandwiching DRS nuclear escort coaches 9248 and 9419. The colourful combination is seen passing Whiteball.

Direct Rail Services (DRS) returned north to Crewe on Saturday 7th November 2020. Having dropped off a replacement flask wagon at Devonport the previous day, DRS Class 66/3 locomotives No.66301 and No.66304 operating 0Z33 10:24 Plymouth Park Sidings - Crewe Gresty Bridge. The light engine movement is captured passing Cogload Junction en route back to the DRS base at Gresty Bridge.

DRS Class 66/3 locomotives No.66304 and No.66301 climb to Whiteball Tunnel on Tuesday 3rd November 2020 sandwiching a flask wagon from Devonport Royal Dockyard. The pair conveyed KUA flask wagons 95770 north as 6Z30 07:48 Devonport - Crewe Coal Sidings. The pair returned the next day with a replacement wagon heading west.

DRS Class 66/3 locomotives No.66304 & No.66301 top and tail KUA MODA 95770 on route north with 6Z30 07:48 Devonport Royal Dockyard to Crewe Coal Siding, is pictured passing Catshill Farm Crossing approaching Charlton on Tuesday 3rd November 2020. Unusually one nuclear flask has been left at the Plymouth Naval Dockyard; both KUA flasks having been moved there in early September.

DRS owned Class 37/4 No. 37425 'Sir Robert McAlpine/ Concrete Bob' returned north through Taunton on Friday 9th October 2020 light engine operating 0Z25 08:16 Plymouth - Norwich. The loco had an extended visit in the southwest after needing a visit to Laira GWR Depot, the loco needed work on the Laira wheel lathe to correct a severe wheel flat which the loco had picked up during its trip south on the 22nd. Having completed the repairs the locomotives then carried out driver route learning trips to Penzance and Paignton. The retro liveried Class 37 headed for East Anglia and is seen here passing Broomhay Crossing near Bathpool on Friday 9th October 2020.

DRS owned Class 37/4 No. 37425 'Sir Robert McAlpine/ Concrete Bob' headed to Devon on Tuesday 22nd September 2020 operating light engine as 0Z60 09:07 Crewe Gresty Bridge - Plymouth. The locomotive is now painted in the stunning former 'Regional Railways' livery which some of the class carried in the mid-nineties when they were used on regional passenger services.
