Doncaster-built BR Blue Class 56 No.56045 leads No.47715 and No.56103 north through Platform 4 at Taunton on Monday, 10th November 2025. The three locomotives were returning north after attending the South Devon Railway Diesel Gala weekend, operating a s0M49 10:50 Buckfastleigh - Willesden DC Rail Sidings.

A trio of colorful locomotives passes through Creech St Michael on the 10th November 2025. The two Class 56 locomotives and Class 47 had attended the South Devon Railway Diesel Gala. Owing to the failure of DC Rail Class 60 No. 60055 'Thomas Barnardo' at Hackney Yard with flat batteries, the company sent sister locomotive No. 60046 'William Wilberforce ' south on Monday 21st March 2022. The loco is pictured passing Taunton light engine operating as 0V60 04:20 Willesden Sidings - Hackney Yard.

DC Rail Class 60 No. 60046 'William Wilberforce ' powers through Norton Fitzwarren on the 21st March 2022. The loco collected the loaded aggregate train from Hackney Yard with No. 60055 'Thomas Barnardo' remaining on the rear of the train. The 6Z60 13:36 Hackney Yard - Willesden Sidings loaded aggregate is pictured passing Norton Fitzwarren.

DC Rail Freight Class 60 No. 60055 'Thomas Barnardo' makes it's first visit to Taunton almost 15 years to the day when it last operated a freight train through Taunton. The DR Rail Class 60 is pictured at Bathpool operating 6Z53 11:18 Oxford Banbury Road - Hackney Yard (Newton Abbot) for loading with aggregate.

Thought to be the only operational Class 31 on the UK Network No.31452 from DC Rail collected Network Rail's Lorum Rail Grinder from Okehampton on May 13th 2017. Having already worked light engine from Bristol to Okehampton in the morning, the veteran machine is seen passing North Fitzwarren while working the 4Z02 Okehampton to Chaddesden Sidings with DR79401, 402, 403 and 404 in tow.

DC Rail moved a band new Lorum Network Rail, Rail Grinder from Derby to Okehampton on the Friday May 5th 2017. Passing Taunton at around 20:30 the veteran Class 31/4 No.31452 is seen passing Norton Fitzwarren with the new four car grinder heading for the edge of Darmoor.

Heritage Diesels also passed through Taunton on the 18th November 2016, with DCR providing Class 31 No.31452 to haul a Class 45 'Peak' No.46060 and Class 33 No.33035 from Barrow Hill to Okehampton. The two BR blue livered locomotives will be used on this year's Polar Express trains on the Dartmoor Railway. While the Class 45 was used last year, this is the first time 33035 will have visited the line. The veteran locomotives are pictured passing Taunton while working the 0Z33 10:40 Barrow Hill - Okehampton

Catching the last rays of the sun at Cogload Junction, DC Rail Class 56 No. 56312 'Jeremiah Dixon' with LNER A1 No. 60163 'Tornado' and support coach in tow pass over the classic Cogload Junction fly-over on the 29th September 2015. The Type 5 Class 56 was hauling 5Z63 09:40 York NRM to Bishops Lydeard as 'Tornado' was heading to the West Somerset Railway to star in the Autumn Steam Gala Weekend.

BR Class 50 No. 50021 'Rodney' made the next leg of its journey to Eastleigh on the 30th of June 2015, when it was towed from Taunton, where it had been stabled with Class 56 No.56303. The pair of locos first moved down to Fairwater Yard at 07:11 before the DCR Class 56 ran round the locomotive and then departed to Eastleigh as 0Z52 07:25 Taunton - Eastleigh Works. Once at Eastleigh the DCR uncoupled 50012 and collected The Fifty Funds Class 50 No. 50031 'Hood' which was then towed to Derby, where it will also be undergoing repairs.

DCR Class 56 No.56303 is pictrued stabled in the sidings behind Taunton Station with BR Large Logo Class 50 No. 50021 'Rodney' on the 28th June 2015. The paid arived at Taunton operating 0Y56 13:03 Derby - Taunton to stable before continuing to Eastleigh the next day.

DDCR's Class 31 No.31601 has recently been repainted by the Devon Diesel Society at Buckfastleigh on the South Devon Railway. The locomotive previously carried DCR Green with DCR branding, but following a deal with the DDS the locomotive visited Buckfastleigh where it was transformed to be painted into DR Rails new grey scheme, the loco was also named 'Devon Diesel Society' and took part in their Bank Holiday Gala. With a fresh coat of paint, only days old Class 31 No.31601 climbs to Whiteball Tunnel on Sunday 24th May 2015 operating 0Z31 13:40 Totnes - Tyseley Deopt.
