Wessex Pink livered Class 31 No.31601 and No.31233 work a Network Rail test train out of the bay platform at Taunton. The train was carrying out a track recording run on the West Somerset Railway on April 8th 2008 operating as the 4Z08 17:14 Taunton - Minehead. A First Great Western Class 143 Pacer unit stands in Platform 3 soon to depart for Cardiff Central.

Following a brief stop at Taunton, Fragonset (FM Rail) Class 31 No. 31459 'Cerberus' departs Taunton with Network Rail Ultrasonic Test Unit No.901002 'Lab 19 - Iris II' in tow, the latter being delivered to the West Somerset Railway for permanent retirement on Tuesday 18th March 2008. The 5Z06 08:56 Derby RTC - Bishops Lydeard is pictured at 40 Steps taking the relief line to access the West Somerset Railway.| The unit was to be converted for use with the West Somerset Railway Permanent Way Department, but although it was repainted the unit was left unused at Dunster before eventually leaving the line for pastures new.

Intercity liveried Class 31 No.31454 is picutred at Tithill Lane/ Dean Road on the 22nd July 2007. The loco arrive with partner No.31452 (in top and tail formation) with five Mk2 coaches as 5Z36 12:26 Weston-super-Mare - Bishops Lydeard where the locos were refuled from a waiting road tanker before returning back to Weston.

FM Rail Class 31 locomtoives No.31454 and No.31452 depart from the West Somerset Railway passing Norton Fitzwarren on the 22nd July 2007. The pair were operating 5Z32 17:08 Bishops Lydeard - Weston-super-Mare empty coaching stock movement having been refuled by road tanker at Dean Road/ Tithill Lane.

Fragonset Class 31 No.31452 is pictured in Platform 2 at Taunton in 'top and tail' formation with No.31454 on the 21st July 2007. The pair were operating 1Z35 11:10 Minehead - Bristol Temple Meads 'Butlins Express' service with Mk2 Intercity coaching stock formed of 9797 5906 5797 5866 and 6168.

Intercity liveried Fragonset Class 31 No.31454 and classmate No.31452 arrive into Taunton on the 21st July 2007 operating 1Z39 14:06 Bristol Temple Meads to Minehead 'The Butlins Express' holidaymaker service. The train operated on summer Saturdays as a one-off trial in 2007 to show how through trains from Bristol could transport passengers to the West Somerset Railway, Butlins and also allow passengers from Minehead to go shopping in Bristol for the day on direct train service.

Fragonset Class 31 locomotives No.31452 and No.31454 lead 'The Butlins Express' 1Z35 11:10 Minehead to Bristol Temple Meads along the relief line at 40 Steps into Taunton Station. The special trial holiday train operated in top and tail mode with through wired coaches 6168 5866 5797 5906 9497 allowing both locomotives to provide power to the train.

Fragonset Class 31 No. 31128 'Charybdis' is pictured in Platform 1 at Taunton. The loco arrived on a light engine crew training run at 23:30 on the 13th May 2006 operating as 0Z31 20:40 Derby RTC - Taunton. The loco stabled in Platform 1 at Taunton over the weekend.
