No.66080 passes Taunton operating 0Z89 09:10 Bristol Temple Meads to Westbury Cement Works via Exeter Riverside.

Split Headcode Colas

Colas Rail Freight split headcode Class 37/0 No.37057 visited Taunton in daylight hours on the 28th March 2024 passing in-between the monsoon like downpours of Storm Nelson.

No.37057 operating 3Q99 10:00 Exeter Riverside - Derby RTC returning to base before the start of the easter weekend. The Network Rail rest train was formed of coaches 6117, 6001, 9808, 62287, and DBSO 9714 at the rear.

First WSR Services of 2024

The first passenger services of the 2024 operating season started on the West Somerset Railway on the 23rd/ 24th March 2024.

Visiting 2-6-0 tank No.6695 arrives into Blue Anchor on the 23rd March 2024 on the first operating days of the 2024 season. No.6695 was operating 14:30 Minehead - Bishops Lydeard and will be operating on the line during the early season and will attend the Spring Steam Gala.

BR Green Class 33 No.33048 (D6566) is pictured at Blue Anchor on the 24th March 2024. The loco was operating the 14:40 Bishops Lydeard - Minehead service having been called upon to cover for the non availability of a steam locomotive.

A recent major tree pollarding project at Norton Fitzwarren has cleared overhanging trees from the north side of the tracks adjacent to the West Somerset Railway link.

On the 20th March 2024 Class 59/0 No. 59004 'Paul A Hammond' passes Norton Fitzwarren on the 20th March 2024 operating 6C28 12:44 Exeter Riverside - Westbury Cement Works with a rake of colourful empty aggregate wagons in tow.

Having unloaded Mendip aggregate at Exeter Riverside Yard, Freightliner operated Class 59/0 No. 59005 'Kenneth J Painter' passes through Creech St Michael on the 22nd March 2024 operating 6C28 14:44 Exeter Riverside - Westbury Cement Works.

 Network Rail NMT South In Daylight

The Network Rail New Measurment Train formed of No. 43013 'Mark Carne CBE' leading No. 43062 'John Armitt' is pictured passing Creech St Michael on Friday 8th March 2024.

The set was operating the retimed 1Q18 09:06 Reading Triangle Sidings - Paignton testing diagram owing to engineering works in Cornwall prohibiting the normal route to be followed.

 Freightliner Aggregate

Freightliner Class 59/2 No.59203 passes Norton Fitzwarren on the 1st March 2024 returning east with empty aggregate wagons following unloading at Exeter Riverside.

The loco was operating as 6C28 12:48 Exeter Riverside - Westbury Cement Works.
