Sunday the 2nd September 2007 saw Pathfinder Tours use a pair of EWS liveried Class 37s to haul 'The Torbay Express' charter from Bristol to Kingswear.
The charter was originally booked to hauled by steam locomotive No. 6024 'King Edward I' but this loco was unavailable due to a piston rod problems. The use of two heritage Class 37 locomotives on the charter was certainly welcomed by enthusiasts at the lineside, while passengers on the train had paid for steam haulage it isn't always possible to find a suitable replacement when maintenance prevents a locomotive from operating.
