A rare visitor to the Taunton area on the 9th November 1985 was No.40122 (D200).

Traintours operated 'The Penzance Flyer' 1Z25 03:00 Manchester Victoria -Penzance. The tour featured a Class 45 from Manchester to Crewe where the Class 40 took over through to Penzance and back to Stafford, where two different Class 47s returned the train to Manchester via Preston. The Penzance Flyer is pictured passing 40 Steps having just passed through Taunton Station.
