45045 Failed On Shed

BR Blue Class 45 No. 45045 'Coldstream Guardsman' is pictured stabled on Taunton Shed on the 24th November 1984.

It's thought the locomotive failed while in service and spent several days at Taunton prior to being taken for repair.

Hertfordshire Railtours operated 'The Devon Quarryman' charter on the 23th November 1984 using a pair of Class 40 locomotives.

The 1Z26 07:32 London Euston - Meldon Quarry used a Class 81 (81009) between London Euston and Birmingham before attaching No.40086 and No.40118 for the run to Meldon Quarry and back. The pair are pictured on the relief line at Fairwater Yard having used the Taunton avoider to bypass the station.
