16th January 1993 On the 16th January 1993 Hertfordshire Railtours 'The Quantock Explorer' operated the first through charter train to the West Somerset Railway. Midland HST set formed of No.43054 and No.43083 operated 07:35 Bedford - Bishops Lydeard where steam locomotives from the West Somerset Railway took over for the run to Minehead and back.
