3rd February 2014 Veteran Class 31 No.31233 made a understated appearance at Taunton on the 3rd February 2014 with a Network Rail test train. The 3Z08 17:54 Derby - Bristol Kingsland Road via Taunton and Portbury is seen at Taunton at 23:38 waiting to depart to Portbury. The Class 31 could not continue south of Taunton due to line closure at Whiteball Tunnel for engineering work. During next week there were several test trains booked to visit Devon and Cornwall once the Whiteball engineering blockade is lifted. With the recent events on the Dawlish coastline sea wall collapse, it's unlikely these planned test trains will now operate as planned. (Photo: Darren Harris)
