17th May 1997 On a very foggy morning on the 17th May 1997 Class 31's No.31466 and No.31407 pass Taunton hauling 'The Pirates of Penzance' charter the 1Z63 21:53 (Fri) Preston - Penzance and St Ives. The tour organised by A1A Charters / Pathfinder Tours also used No.31450 & No.37375 between Preston and Swindon before switching to No.31466 and No.31407. The return trip was handled by Transrail Class 37 No.37674 and Mainline Class 31 No.31407 after No.31466 failed with flat batteries at Penzance. (Photo: Taunton Trains Collection)
