7th April 1985 Ex GWR 4-6-0 'King' No. 6000 'King George V' moves away from Taunton under light steam having been removed from the 1Z47 09:30 London Paddington - Plymouth charter on the 7th April 1985. The loco had failed at Taunton with a fault on its tender. This image was most likely taken in the evening when the King was moved back Bristol at 25 mph tender first for an initial assessment. 7th April 1985 Ex GWR 4-6-0 'King' No. 6000 'King George V' and 'Manor' No. 7819 'Hinton Manor' stand at Taunton on the 7th April 1985 having arrived with the 1Z47 09:30 London Paddington - Plymouth charter. The King ran into problems at Taunton due to a fault with its tender and was removed from the train. No. 7819 'Hinton Manor' continued solo to Exeter with No.37007 and No.37178 added to the rear of the train to assist over Whiteball Bank. At Exeter, the steam was removed and the Class 37s worked the charter through to Plymouth, where Laira later prepared No.50007 to return the tour to London Paddington. 7th April 1985 GWR 4-6-0 'King' No. 6000 'King George V' and GWR 4-6-0 'Manor' No. 7819 'Hinton Manor' arrive into Taunton on the 7th April 1985 operating a GWR 150 special charter as 1Z47 09:30 London Paddington - Plymouth.
