25th October 2019 Colas Rail Freight Class 67 No. 67023 'Stella' and No. 67027 'Charlotte' stand in Platform 3 at Taunton having arrived with the 1Z18 15:41 Paignton - Taunton via Bristol East Yard on Friday 26th October 2019. On route the train discovered a 3m length of twisted (out of tolerance) rail between Taunton and Bristol which resulted in the closure of the mainline for several hours while the track was inspected and repaired, this rare event shows how vital the Network Rail test trains are to the UK rail network, for the safe operation of train services.
