27th January 2026 In a very rare event, GBRf BritishTransport Police Class 69 No. 69016 'British Transport Police' became the first Class 69 to visit bay Platform 6 at Taunton on the 27th January 2026. The locomotive was unveiled in May 2025. The BTP said criminal disruption, in its many forms, from trespass to theft to vandalism, cost the rail industry over £150 million last year. The hope is that the Class 69 will act as a visual deterrent for trespass and criminality. The locomotive is currently based at Fairwater Yard for route learning duties between Taunton and Exeter, due to Storm Chandra flooding had closed the line, preventing the locomotive from carrying out its booked operations.
