1st November 1991 Western No. D1010 'Western Campaigner' is pictured on its first arrival at the WSR from Ddicot, via an overnight stop at Merehead Quarry. 24th March 1991 The Quantock Explorer is pictured arriving into Williton on 24th March 1991 returning the Hertfordhsire Railtour back to meet its mainline locomotive . No.53808 and No.3205 operated tender to tender while hauling the 1520 Minehead - Taunton Cider. Earlier in the day the train had become the first through train to the Capital since 1969 arrive at Willton. After a locomotive change, the charter returned to the mainline with No.47817 forming 1Z10 17:10 Taunton Cider- London Paddington via Weston-super-Mare. (Photo: Richard Giles)

24th March 1991 On the 24th March 1991 Intercity Class 47/8 No.47817 nears the A358 road overbridge and Norton Fitzwarren operating light engine from Bishops Lydeard to Bristol Bath Road having previously arrived with Hertfordshire Railtours 1Z10 08:05 London Paddington - Taunton Cider (in reality the locomotive ran through to Bishops Lydeard). 16th June 1990 The 16th June 2020 marks the 30th Anniversary of the first through train onto the West Somerset Railway which operated on the 16th June 1990. The 1Z17 Minehead - Manchester Piccadilly was hauled to Norton Fitzwarren by 2-6-2 Small Prairie No.4561 and 0-6-0 Pannier No.6412. The pair are pictured with the returning British Rail Class 47 No.47585. The tour was formed of 7 Mk1 coaches from the Pilkinton K Glass set (because this was the maximum length between the points at the Norton Fitzwarren site. Upon arrival at the Taunton Cider site, the Class 47 was removed to be replaced by two WSR locomotives to take over. The event was covered by local TV as a major step forward for the preserved line.
