Making a very rare appearance at Taunton on the 21st April 2021. Former Wrexham and Shropshire liveried Class 67 No.67012 'top and tails' with its tatty partner No.67016 through Taunton. The pair were operating 5Z74 18:00 Penzance - Stewarts Lane with a shortened Belmond Pullman set. The train had worked south the previous night under the cover of darkness around 23:30. The locomotives and stock were used for clearance/ acceptance trails on the St Erth - St Ives branch formed up to the same length as the Royal Train. The Class 67 locomotive type had been banned from the route, but clearance trials were needed as the Class will traverse the branch with the Royal Train in connection with the forthcoming G7 summit in Cornwall. Great Western Railway (GWR) confirmed replacement buses would operate between mainline station St Erth and St Ives from 7th-14th June while the line is shut. Roads in the area will also be closed, but police say they hope it will not be for longer than four days. The summit is to take place from 11th-13th June in Carbis Bay, near St Ives.
