Concluding a four-day stint working out of Exeter Riverside New Yard Network Rail TCMU 1 is captured at West Lyng on 27th February 2026. No.153379 was returning north as the 2Q65 11:52 from Exeter Riverside New Yard to Derby RTC.

Network Rail TCMU 1 (Track Condition Monitoring Unit) is captured at Fordgate working 2Q58 15:08 Alstone Level Crossing to Exeter Riverside New Yard. A third day of operation in the west country saw No.153379 working out of Exeter Riverside to the Cheltenham, Cam & Dursley area, conducting track inspection work. This image, recorded on Thursday, 26th February 2026, captures the unit returning to its temporary four-day Exeter base of operations.

The Network Track Condition Monitoring Unit (TCMU1) No.153379 passes Whiteball on the 24th February 2026. The Network Rail single-car track inspection unit was operating 2Q35 07:50 Derby RTC - Exeter Riverside.

28th January 2026
Network Rail Inspection Train VIU 3 Class 153 DMU No.153385 passes Norton Fitzwarren on 28th January 2026, working 2Q43 11:15 Bristol Kingsland Road to Yeovil Junction. The unit destination blind displayed ‘Cleethorpes’, but in reality only got as far as Exeter St Davids whereupon arrival, the train was terminated. The remaining schedules were modified, which saw the 2X43 Yeovil Junction to Salisbury being replaced with a revised routing running as 2Z43 14:19 Exeter St Davids to Salisbury via Taunton and Westbury. Duties finally concluded with the evening run south of 2Q44 18:18 Salisbury to Eastleigh East Yard.

In appalling weather conditions Network Rail Inspection Train VIU 3 Class 153 DMU No.153385 passes Taunton Station with its inspection lights illuminating the trackwork on the 28th January 2026. The Class 153 Video Inspection Unit was operating 2Q43 11:15 Kingsland Road - Yeovil Junction, which was later cancelled at Exeter.

Class 153 Inspection Unit (Video Inspection Unit) VIU 3 No.153385 heads west over Whiteball with the 2Q64 13:05 Bristol Kingsland Road to Plymouth Park Sidings on 2nd January 2026. According to the destination screen, the unit was en route to Manchester Piccadilly!

GBRf Class 57/3 No.57305 and No. 57310 'UK Railtours' are halted at Taunton in Platform 4 early on 3rd December 2025. The pair were operating 3S12 23:59 Truro Yard - Westbury with the Network Rail RHTT set. The locos arrived at 05:55 running 46 minutes early, and they were held before shunting back into Fairwater Yard via Platform 2 due to a train fault. The pair later continued to Westbury, departing at 09:06 (144 minutes late).

'Entertainment like you've never imagined' as the Network Rail two-car track inspection unit No.950001 passed through Platform 2 on the 29th October 2025. The test unit was operating 2Q08 06:31 Westury - Plymouth Park sidings, passing Taunton 37 minutes ahead of schedule.

Colas Rail Freight Class 37 No.37116 is picuted paused in Platform 5 at Taunton on the 26th September 2025. No.37116 was operating a Network Rail Test Train as 3Q13 20:28 Exeter Riverside - Reading Triangle Sidings.

Network Rail TCMU1 No.153379 visited Taunton on the 18th September 2025. The Track Inspection Unit was operating 2Q54 10:18 Bristol High Level Sidings - Reading Triangle Sidings. The unit is picuted in Platform 3 at Taunton before changing direction back to Westbury.

The countries last remaining mainline registered split headcode Class 37 No. 37057 'Barbara Arbon' visited Taunton late on Friday 5th September 2025. The loco as operating in top and tail formation with No. 37419 'Carl Haviland 1954-2012' as 3Q62 20:38 Exeter Riverside - Derby RTC with a Network Rail test train. Owing to a points failure at Tiverton Loop the train made an unscheduled stop at Taunton to allow a passenger service to pass.

Having been delayed on its track inspection diagram during the day on the 22nd August 2025. The nothbound run to Bristol East Depot of the Network Rail test train ran 39 minutes late on the nothbound run through Taunton resutling in a 55 minute late arrival back into Taunton. No. 43013 'Mark Carne CBE' is pictured leading Colas No.43274 south at Cogload Junction from a signal check operating 1Z18 15:39 Paington - Taunton via Bristol East Depot.
