BR Blue Class 46 No.46035 visited the West Somerset Railway in 2003 to take part in a small cross country gala running alonside the newly introduced Virgin Voyager. The loco is pictured at Bishops Lydeard on the 11th May 2003.

On the 12th March 2003 BR Blue Class 46 No.46035 rounds the bend at Creech St Michael hauling the 1Z66 Crewe - Newton Abbot. The loco was working a charter South to allow steam locomotive No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' Nunney Castle to then work north.
46035 was owned by Pete Waterman and often appeared on charters in the South West. Sadly this was one of the locomotives last operational runs before it was removed from mainline service pending a major overhaul.

On the 15th February 2003 BR Blue Class 46 No.46035 rounds the cruve at Creech St Michael hauling the 1Z66 04:44 Crewe - Newton Abbot. The loco was hauling Pathfinder Railtours charter 'The Exe-Tawe charter south to allow steam locomotive No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' Nunney Castle to then return towards South Wales. The Class 46 No.
46035 was owned by Pete Waterman and often appeared on charters in the South West. Sadly this was one of the locomotives last operational runs before it was removed from mainline service pending a major overhaul.

BR Blue Class 46 'Peak' No.46035 passes Cogload Junction light engine on the 15th February 2003. The Peak had previously worked the Crewe - Newton Abott leg of the 'Exe-Taw' charter. At Newton Abbot Great Western 'Castle' No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' took over for the run to Bridgend. The Class 46 worked light engine from as the 0B24 10:10 Newton Abbot - Bridgend ahead of the tour. 0B24 was chosen as this was a former light engine move to Highbridge in British Rail days.

British Rail Class 46 No.46045 is pictured on Taunton Shed on the 24th November 1984. It's believed the loco had failed on the 1C09 06:35 Bristol - Plymouth making it the last Class 46 passenger working. The loco was the pilot loco on the train (as was common practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays) it should have come off at Exeter to work a ballast from Riverside back to Bristol. This was still a regular duty for Peaks right into 1987. No.45066 working it as late as March 1987.

The Class 46 was a variation of the Class 45. Structurally they were the same as a Class 44 & 45, but they were fitted with different alternators and traction motors which resulted in a change of Class. BR Blue Class 45 No.46045 is pictured on Taunton Shed on the 24th November 1984. A rare photo indeed, as it's reported by the end of 1984 all of the class had been withdrawn from frontline service. Stephen Cole was able to confirm that the loco was withdrawn a few days later as were the last handful of 46's. It's believed that 46045 had blown up on the 1C09 0635 Bristol - Plymouth making it the last Class 46 passenger working. The loco was the pilot loco on the train (as was common practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays) it should have come off at Exeter to work a ballast from Riverside back to Bristol. This was still a regular duty for Peaks right into 1987. 45 066 working it as late as March 1987.

British Rail Class 45 No. 46026 'Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry' powers away from Taunton on the 28th August 1982 hauling a southbound Cross Country service into the South West. The locomotive was the only member of the Class to carry a name.

British Rail Blue Class 45 No. 45036 with a split centre headcode box is pictured stabled on Taunton Shed on the 20th June 1982 between diagrams. The locomotive lasted in service until May 1986 when it was withdrawn, it was later scrapped in August 1988 by Vic Barry of Leicester.
