Having changed formation on the West Somerset Railway Norton Fitzwarren triangle, GWR 4-6-0 No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' leads No.37521 through Longlands Farm on the 20th June 2025. The pair were operating 5Z21 10:17 Crewe - Bishops Lydeard in preparation for the Great Western steam locomotive to haul a Steam Dreams charter to Kingswear the next day.

Locomotive Services Ltd moved their GWR Castle No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' to the West Somerset Railway on Friday 20th June 2025. No.37521 hauled No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' south as 5Z21 10:17 Crewe - Bishops Lydeard with Mk1 coach 35461 in tow. Upon arrival at the Norton Fitzwarren Triangle the Class 37 was moved to the back of the train and the Castle then lead the convoy through to Bishops Lydeard. The Class 37 / Castle combination is pictured passing Norton Fitzwarren.

Running as the 5Z48 06:24 Bishops Lydeard to Bristol Temple Meads SR Rebuilt Bullied West Country Class 4-6-2 No. 34046 'Braunton' heads north through Banklands on the morning of Wednesday 28th May 2025. The loco with Mk1 Support coach 35479 in tow makes its way to Bristol prior to working the steam leg of the Paignton to Shrewsbury 'Welsh Marches Express' tour as 5Z48 06:24 Bishops Lydeard – Bristol Temple Meads. The main charter worked by Class 47 locomotives No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' and No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot', respectively would also pass through some 99 minutes later, handing over control of the train to No. 34046 'Braunton' on arrival at Bristol Temple Meads.

Working the 'Welsh Marches Express' charter on Wednesday 28th May 2025, Class 47 locomotives No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' and No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot', respectively are captured running northbound through Banklands. Running as the 1Z47 06:16 Paignton to Shrewsbury the tour would change to steam haulage from Bristol onwards. SR 'Rebuilt’ West Country Class 4-6-2 No. 34046 'Braunton' had already run ahead of the main train from Bishops Lydeard to Bristol some 99 minutes earlier.

The diesel leg of Saphos Trains 'English Riviera Express' charter passes Creech St Michael on Saturday 24th May 2025. Two-tone green Class 47 No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' and black-liveried Class 57 No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' top and tailed the diesel leg of the 1Z82 06:43 Shrewsbury - Kingswear charter. At Taunton the Class 47 was removed and replaced with LSL steam locomotive No. 34046 'Braunton' for the steam leg into Devon.

Saphos Trains operated the first English Riviera Express of the 2025 season ran on Saturday 3rd May 2025 running as the 1Z82 06:34 Poole to Kingswear. The initial leg from Poole to Taunton was diesel-hauled by No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' and No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' via Westbury where the train reversed direction to head west across the Somerset Levels resulting in No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' leading the tour into Taunton. Rebuilt Bullied West Country Class 4-6-2 No. 34046 'Braunton' was promptly added to the front of the tour, and was assisted by the Class 57 because of the current fire risk. The first charter of the season captured here soon after departure getting up to speed through Allerford.

‘The Yorkshire Coast Pullman’ charter brings a splash of colour to Fordgate on an otherwise gloomy and dull 24th April 2025. Midland Pullman HST power car No. 43049 'Neville Hill' and No. 43058 'Loch Eil' are pictured heading for north running as the 1Z32 06:05 from Paignton - Scarborough the beautifully turned-out luxury train worked ECS down from Crewe the previous day.

After emitting a cloud of exhaust No. 37667 'Flopsie' powers dead No.37521 up Whiteball Bank on the 19th April 2025. The LSL locomotives were operating the late running 'Chairmans Train' private charter as 1Z33 06:00 St Ives - Shrewsbury.

With steam being emitted from the lead locomotive No. 37667 'Flopsie' and the second locomotive No.37521 (dead in train), the Chairmans Train took at ten minute stop at Bridgwater to attend to the problem. Similar scenes were witnessed while climbing Whitball. No. 37667 'Flopsie' and No.37521 were operating 1Z33 06:00 St Ives - Shrewsbury passing Fordgate running 15 minutes late at this point.

The late running return private charter from Penzance passes Banklands on the 19th April 2025 with only one locomotive working and running 159 minutes behind schedule. No. 37667 'Flopsie' leads No.37521 (dead in train) operating as 1Z33 06:00 St Ives - Shrewsbury. Shortly after this image was taken steam/ smoke could be seen coming from the front locomotive, after a further short stop at Bridgwater to assess the problem, the train continued to Bristol where a waiting LSL locomotive (No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot') was waiting to continue the trip through to Shrewsbury.

GWR 4-6-0 Castle No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' arrives into Taunton passing Norton Fitzwarren on the 18th April 2025 with No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' operating The Chairman's Train 1Z29 07:50 Kingswear - Taunton. Upon arrival at Taunton the steam locomotive Class 57 and support coach were uncoupled from the train and continued back to Crewe.

GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' double-heading with LSG (Locomotive Services Group) Class 57 No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' storm the gradient up to Whiteball Summit with ‘The Chairmans Train’ private charter on Good Friday, 18th April 2025. Following an overnight stay on the Paignton & Dartmouth Railway the train is captured working as the 1Z29 07:50 Kingswear to Taunton return steam leg.

After an overnight rest and servicing in Kingswear 'The Chairmans Train' returned to Taunton on Good Friday 18th April 2025. Great Western steam locomotive No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' and Class 57 No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' pass Bradford on Tone operating as 1Z29 07:50 Kingswear - Taunton, the steam locomotives was cantering on the down gradient from Wellington to Taunton where the train would change traction and direction.

British Rail Green Class 37 locomotives No. 37667 'Flopsie' and No.37521 storm out of the gloom at Silk Mills on Good Friday 18th April 2025 hauling 'The Chairmans Train'. Having been hauled from Kingswear to Taunton by GWR steam locomotive No. 5029 'Nunney Castle', the train reversed at Taunton with Class 37 locomotives provided to take the train south into Cornwall for the rest of the weekend. No. 37667 'Flopsie' and No.37521 (which had swapped formation since arrival earlier in the week), operated 1Z30 11:00 Taunton - St Germans where the on board guests would alight for an afternoon break before re-joining the train at Lostwithiel later in the afternoon.

No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' had arrived with No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' operating 1Z29 10:42 London Paddington - Kingswear 'The Chairmans Train'.

GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' powers away from Taunton with LSL Class 57 No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' tucked inside the while hauling ‘The Chairmans Train’ a private Locomotive Services Ltd charter on Thursday 17th April 2025. Fresh from overhaul Nunney Castle returns to its former stomping ground some eleven years after it last visited the area. Having completed a water stop at Taunton the former GWR locomotive was captured at Allerford operating as the 1Z29 10:42 London Paddington to Kingswear via Bristol Temple Meads.

Locomotive Services Ltd Class 37 locomotives No. 37667 'Flopsie' and No.37521 arrived into Taunton on Wednesday 16th April 2025. The pair arrived light engine from St Philips Marsh Depot as 0Z29 15:55 St Philips Marsh - Taunton having travelled down to Bristol with other LSL stablemates No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' and No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers'. The Class 37s were being positioned ahead of a visit from the private LSL Managers Train operating a weekend land cruise in the Southwest.

On hire from Locomotive Services Ltd based at Crewe, Class 57/3 No.57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' is pictured at Taunton during the early hours on the 8th March 2025. The loco has been hired to GWR to bolster their Class 57 fleet and operated 1C50 23:45 London Paddington - Penzance 'Night Riviera' service, operating in 'top and tail' formation with GWR Class 57/6 No. 57603 'Tintagel Castle'.
