Resplendant Locomotive Services Ltd Class 45 No. 45118 'The Royal Artilleryman' is pictured at Taunton on Saturday, 2nd May 2026. The loco had rejoined The English Riviera Express charter (taking over from LNER B1 No. 61306 'Mayflower' alongside Fairwater Yard). No. 45118 'The Royal Artilleryman' and No. 47593 'Galloway Princess' then continued 1Z62 16:35 Kingswear - Crewe from Taunton.

First English Riviera Express charter of the 2026 season saw Locomotive Services provide Class 45 No. 45118 'The Royal Artilleryman' and Class 47 No. 47593 'Galloway Princess' operating in top and tail formation for the 1Z61 06:10 Crewe -Taunton to Kingswear & return. On arrival at Taunton, the peak was replaced with LNER B1 No. 61306 'Mayflower' for the steam leg from Taunton to Kingswear. The beautiful train is captured approaching the Taunton stop as it passes Creech St Michael on Saturday, 2nd May 2026

Locomotive Services Ltd/ Saphos Trains used Class 45 No. 45118 'The Royal Artilleryman' for the first 'English Riviera Express' charter of the 2026 season. No. 45118 'The Royal Artilleryman' operated in top and tail formation with No. 47593 'Galloway Princess' to Taunton as 1Z61 06:10 Crewe - Kingswear. Upon arrival at Taunton, the Class 45 was removed and replaced by LNER B1 No. 61603 for the steam leg into Devon. The Class 45 is pictured at 40 Steps, having uncoupled from the train and being moved to the sidings behind Taunton Station.

LNER B1 Class 4-6-0 No. 61306 'Mayflower' is captured at Banklands while working light engine as the 0Z61 10:53 Southall to Bishops Lydeard on Friday 1st May 2026. The first English Riviera Express of the 2026 season would operate the following day from Crewe to Taunton to Kingswear & return.

Having completed a visit to Windsor, Eaton & Riverside on the previous day, Locomotive Services Ltd moved The Statesman stock back to Crewe on Friday 17th April 2026. Sadly, operating in a band on rain No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' leads No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' (Dead in Train), passing Bradford on Tone. The movement operated as 5Z24 13:56 Goodrington - Crewe passing Taunton at 15:27.

Statesman Rail operated 'The Royal Windsor Statesman' charter on Thursday, 16th April 2026. No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' and No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' top and tailed the dining charter from Paington to Windsor & Eton Riverside, pausing at Taunton to pick up at 07:35. After spending a relaxing afternoon on the Windsor Estate, the charter returned south to Devon, also taking an unscheduled diversion via Swindon and Melksham due to a failed freight train near Hungerford. No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' and No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' are pictured returning south, passing Cogload Junction, operating as 1Z22 15:04 Windsor & Eton Riverside to Taunton.

Stateman Rail operated an empty stock movement on Wednesday, 15th April 2026, in preparation for the first charter of 2026. Locomotive Services Ltd Class 47 locomotives No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' and No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' top and tailed 5Z19 08:40 Crewe - Goodrington in preparation for 'The Royal Windsor Statesman' charter, which would depart Paignton the next morning. In rather inclement conditions, No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' is pictured passing Taunton Station.

With stock and locos supplied by Locomotive Services Ltd, BR Blue Class 50 No. 50050 'Fearless' (D400) exits from the Norton Triangle complex in top and tail formation with No. 40013 'Andania' (D213). The operation was running as 1Z70 09:05 Bristol Temple Meads - Goodrington Sidings via Norton Fitzwarren (to turn), and Hackney Yard.

No. 40013 'Andania' (D213) and No. 50050 'Fearless' (D400) top and tail 1Z70 09:05 Bristol Temple Meads - Goodrington. The charter operated via Fairwater Yard, Norton Fitzwarren (to turn), Exeter New Yard, and Hackney Yard.

In a very lucky patch of sun, Locomotive Services Ltd Class 20 locomotives No.20096 and No.20107 pass Broomhay Crossing on the 21st October 2025 hauling No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' (In Light Steam) back to Crewe for Winter maintenance. The Class 20 locomotives were operating as 5Z30 10:15 Bishops Lydeard - Crewe HS compelte with Mk1 support coach in tow.

Locomotive Services Ltd Class 20 locomotives No.20107 (D8107) and No.20096 (D8096) travelled to the West Somerset Railway on Monday 20th October 2025 with a support coach. The locomotives are pictued passing Longlands Farm operating as 5Z30 09:40 Crewe - Bishops Lydeard, upon arrival they stabled in the main platform area where the next day they would collect LSL steam chater locomotive No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' to return to Crewe for winter maintenance.

Nunney Castle powers away from Taunton on Saturday 6th September 2024 (sadly being assisted from the rear of the train), becoming the second GWR Castle to pass over the same section of track in under 40 minutes. No. 5029 'Nunney Castle' was hauling the steam leg of Saphos Trains 'English Riviera Express' charter 1Z49 05:44 High Wycombe - Kingswear. The diesel leg having been coved by No. 47712 'Lady Diana Spencer' and No. 57311 'The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' in 'top and tail' formation. The Class 57/3 remained with the train providing assitance from the rear. The English Riveira Express later overtook Vintage Trains 'The Mayflower' charter at Tiverton Loop, and later it was possible to see the sight of two Castle locomotives on the Dawlish Sea Wall at the same time following one another.
