Celebrating 50 years of Hymek preservation on the West Somerset Railway No.D7018 and No.D7017 were reunited for the first time since 2019 for a special two-day DEPG event. The beautifully turned-out pair of Hymeks pull into Washford with the 12:25 Bishops Lydeard to Minehead service on Sunday 31st August 2025.

The West Somerset Railway held a special two-day event to celebrate 50 years of DEPG Hymek preservation on the line, Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August 2025. Working the grade between Stogumber and Leigh Woods on Day 2 DEPG Blue No.D7017 double-heading with BR Green No.D7018 head towards Crowcombe Heathfield with the 14:20 service for Minehead to Bishops Lydeard.

Class 35 Diesel Hydraulics No.D7017 and No.D7018 get under-way from Minehead with the 14:20 service to Bishops Lydeard on Sunday 31st August 2025. The WSR-based DEPG held a special two day event to celebrate 50 years of Hymek preservation on the line over the weekend of the 30th & 31st August 2025. Location is Seaward Crossing, Minehead.

The DEPG / West Somerset Railway celebrated 50 years of Hymek preservation on the West Somerset Railway on the 30th and 31st August 2025. With both Hymeks reunited for the first time since 2019 a special timetable operated to provide three round trips to Minehead combining both single locos and double-heading. No.D7018 is picutred running around the train at Bishops Lydeard to join No.D7017 to operate the 12:25 Bishops Lydeard - Minehead. The special services were packed with passengers throughout the day.

An interesting comparison at Bishops Lydeard on Satrudfay 20th Agust 2025. On the left former British Rail Hymek (Built 1964-1964) No.D7017 prepeares to depart Bishops Lydeard after 50 years in preservation with the 08:25 Bishops Lydeard - Minehead. On the right General Motors Class 66 No. 66748 'St Michaels Mount' (Built 2008 as 20078968 004 and delivered to the Netherlands but never used, purchased by GBRf via Beacon Rail in 2012), now entering its 17th year in traffic.
