28th July 2026 Freightliner Class 66/9 No.66952 is pictured on Platform 3 at Taunton on Tuesday 28th July 2026. No.66952 arrived operating 0Z52 14:05 Stoke Gifford - Merehead Quarry. Due to a points failure at Bradford Junction, the driver intended to take the locomotive to Cogload Junction to reverse and head back to Westbury. One such train, formed of Network Rail Autoballasters, was captured at Taunton on the 11th May 2026. No.66546 is pictured at Taunton while operating 6Y61 19:37 Westbury Yard - Westbury Yard via Lisekard (where a run-round took place). 26th April 2026 On Sunday, 26th April 2026, Heavy Haull Rail Class 66 locomotives No.66953 and No.66559 top and tailed 6Y41 07:20 Filton Abbey Wood - Westbury Yard (via Taunton), following the unloading of sleepers at Filton West overnight. The train was routed via Taunton due to another engineering possession happening at Bathampton Junction. The short formation is pictured in Platform 3 at Taunton before heading back to Westbury. The loco was operating a rake of empty Network Rail Autoballasters having completed a ballast drop in Devon. The train operated as 6F04 07:00 Cowley Bridge Junction to Westbury. The 6Y40 08:49 Exeter Central - Westbury is pictured taking its booked stop in Platform 4 at Taunton. Later, the train failed with low coolant on the lead locomotive at Castle Cary, causing a 99-minute delay. The service was rescued by No.66561 and No.66616 and towed through to Westbury.
