West Somerset Railway - 2021 Mixed Traffic Gala

Images taken of the 2021 Mixed Traffic Gala Gala held on September 17th and 18th 2021. The event featured Class 33 locomotives D6566 (No.33048), D6575 (No.33057), Hymek No.D7018, 4-6-0 'Manor' No.7828, 4-6-0 'Manor' No.7822 and 2-6-2T No.5199.. Because of the Minehead road / rail crossing still being out of action passenger services either operated to Dunster (with heritage bus transfer to Minehad) or terminated at Blue Anchor facilitating a run round to change direction. Some services were also extended to operate to Norton Fitzwarren.

Having arrived at Blue Anchor on Saturday 18th September 2021 with the 18:35 from Bishops Lydeard the crew of 'Hymek' No.D7018 are given then run round instructions from the signalman. The loco later formed the 20:15 Blue Anchor - Bishops Lydeard service, before returning light engine to Williton.

Passengers alight from former British Rail Hymek No.D7018 having arrived at Blue Anchor on the 17th September 2021 with the 09:25 from Bishops Lydeard where the train would change direction. In the adjacent platform Class 33s No.33057 and No.33048 (in top and tail formation) wait depart with the 10:28 Dunster - Bishops Lydeard.

Blue Anchor is normally a through operating station, so the change to witness an engine running around a train on the 17th September 2021 during the WSR Mixed Traffic Gala was one many enthusiasts gathered to see. With the road crossing at Minehead still out of action, passenger services were diagrammed to either terminate at Dunster or change direction at Blue Anchor.
