GBRf re-geared from No.66771 (Now No. 66671 'Wenleysdale Railway Association 25 Years 1990-2015') still carrying its 'Euro Porte' livery passes Cogload Junction on the 13th May 2026, operating in top and tail formation with GBRf classmate No. 66751 'Inspiration Delivered Hitachi Rail Europe'. The pair were operating as 6G71 (Tue) 21:29 Westbury - Westbury via Barnstaple, returning to Westbury having completed an overnight ballast drop.

LNER A4 Pacific No. 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' gets up to speed through Bradford-on-Tone with the second ‘English Riviera Express’ of the 2026 season. Heading for the English Riviera operating as 1Z07 05:52 Northampton to Kingswear. The initial leg of the tour was worked as far as Taunton by Class 45 No. 45118 'The Royal Artilleryman', where steam traction took over the train. Class 47 No. 47593 'Galloway Princess' was attached to the rear of the train, remaining in place for the run down to Devon and back. Image recorded on Saturday, 9th May 2026.

With a Heinz 57 Variety, the GWR Night Riviera sleeper empty stock movement returns south to Laira, having failed the previous day and stabled in Highbridge Loop. No.57301, No. 57605 'Totnes Castle' (Failed), and No. 57604 'Pendennis Castle' (Failed) pass through Bathpool on the 6th May 2026 while operating 5Z50 08:00 Highbridge Loop - Laira via Bristol St Philips Marsh.

The highlight of the West Somerset Railway Spring Steam Spectacular was the triple-headed formation of No. 7802 'Bradley Manor', No. 7812 'Erlestoke Manor', and No. 7828 'Odney Manor' on Satruday 2nd May 2026. The three locomotives operated the 17:45 from Bishops Lydeard - Minehead, however late running through the day meant the service was nearly an hour behind schedule upon departure from Crowcombe Heathfield.

Shortly after, clouds had consumed the evening light at Cogload Junction on Friday, 1st May 2026. The Network Rail New Measurement Train, formed of No. 43013 'Mark Carne CBE' and No. 43014 'The Railway Observer' were operating 1Z18 15:39 Paington - Taunton via Bristol East Junction.

Ex-SR Bullied West Country Class 4-6-2 No. 34028 'Eddystone' returns from Cornwall with ‘The Great Britain XVIII’ charter on Sunday 19th April 2026. Captured working the grade towards the summit at Whiteball, the train makes for a fine sight indeed, running as the 1Z10 09:20 Penzance to Chester. West Coast Railways Company supplied supporting Class 47 motive power in the shape of No.47826, attached here at the rear of the train.

The Brittannic Explorer was back visiting the southwest on Saturday 18th April 2026. No. 66742 'ABP Port of Immingham Centenary 1912-2012' and No. 66748 'St Michaels Mount' 'top and tail' the Saturday leg of the luxury land cruise/ sleeper charter as 1C02 09:05 Bishops Lydeard - Penzance via Taunton.

Statesman Rail operated 'The Royal Windsor Statesman' charter on Thursday, 16th April 2026. No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' and No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' top and tailed the dining charter from Paington to Windsor & Eton Riverside, pausing at Taunton to pick up at 07:35. After spending a relaxing afternoon on the Windsor Estate, the charter returned south to Devon, also taking an unscheduled diversion via Swindon and Melksham due to a failed freight train near Hungerford. No. 47810 'Crewe Diesel Depot' and No. 47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 ' are pictured returning south, passing Cogload Junction, operating as 1Z22 15:04 Windsor & Eton Riverside to Taunton.

In a lucky patch of sun, the Railway 200 'Inspiration Train' makes its second appearance in daylight, having spent the previous week at Newquay Station GBRf moved the Railway 200 Exhibition Train in preparation for its next location. No. 66719 'Michael Portillo' and No. 66310 'Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway' (in top and tail formation) are pictured passing Creech St Michael on Sunday, 12th April 2026 while operating 3Z42 07:39 Newquay - Long Marston.

GBRf Railway 200 Class 66/7 No. 66719 'Michael Portillo' leads the Inspiration Exhibition Train around the curve at Doniford, turning away from the Bristol Channel to head inland with No. 66310 'Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway' on the rear of the set on Easter Sunday, 5th April 2026. The pair were operating 3Z41 16:05 Minehead - Newquay running just under three hours early. In the background, bulk carrier Emine Akay is visible, having been anchored off the Blue Anchor coastline for the past two weeks, waiting for entry to Avonmouth Docks.

Having visited Minehead over the previous week, and making its second visit to the West Somerset Railway. The Rail Inspiration Train was moved in daylight hours back to the mainline on Easter Sunday, 5th April 2026. The colourful Rail 200 train was captured at Crowcombe Heathfield running over three hours earlier than planned. No. 66719 'Michael Portillo' and No. 66310 'Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway' were operating the train as 3Z41 16:05 Minehead - Newquay, where the Rail200 event will be hosted for the following week.

Colas Rail operated the Network Rail test train through the Taunton area on Good Friday, 3rd April 2026. No. 43277 'Safety Task Force' leads No. 43257 'Bounds Green' climbing Whiteball Bank (complete with the Mentor overhead line inspection coach in the consist), operating 1Z18 15:39 Paington - Westbury Signal W213 via Bristol West Junction. This was a revised operating schedule due to Engineering work over the Easter Weekend.

Recreating the first passenger service which operated on the West Somerset Railway 50 years ago. 0-6-0 Bagnall No. 2996 'Victor' passes Dunster on the 28th March 2026, hauling the 10:00 Minehead - Blue Anchor service for special ticket holders and guests.

DB Cargo Class 66 No.66168 leads the final DB-operated southbound empty China Clay service on Saturday 28th March 2026, 6V76 10:35 Westbury - Goonbarrow Junction. It's expected that GBRf will take over the service in due course. This concludes the last DB Cargo freight service south of Westbury and Bristol through Taunton.

The striking new Cross Country livery has begun making appearances at Taunton. The colours featured on the newly refurbished Voyager include the colours of Cornish Clotted Cream, Royal Mile Teal, English Rose, and Cardiff Bay Sunset. No.220033 and No.220033 are pictured passing Silk Mills on the 18th March 2026 while operating 1S51 12:27 Plymouth - Edinburgh. Over the coming months, more refurbished Voyagers will exit from Derby Litchurch Lane, bringing more refurbished sets into public service.
