The 13:06 Liverpool Lime Street - Paignton summer service ran into issues at Exeter on the 27th September 1986, when lead locomotive No.31101 failed at Exeter.
Thankfully there was a spare Class 31 on depot (No.31403) which was able to join No.31432 for the reminder of the trip to Paignton and able to work back to Liverpool the same day. Both the 13:06 Liverpool Lime Street - Paignton and 16:08 Paignton - Liverpool Lime Street return services were captured passing Taunton.
